Amy is the difficult catheter insertion specialist for the hospitals in Lincoln. “I like being able to help patients through difficult situations and bring them relief,” she says. She also works with local hospitals to decrease urinary tract infections in patients with catheters. “Catheter-associated urinary tract infections negatively impact patient outcomes, often increasing the length of hospital stays,” says Amy. “Proper insertion improves patient comfort and decreases complications.”
When working with patients, Amy focuses on the big picture. “Preparing patients for what may occur ensures that, if something does happen, they’ll know exactly what to do,’ she says. “I also encourage them to keep moving forward in their recovery and educate them about how to continue doing well when they go home.”
Amy has been a valued member of Nebraska Urology since 2022, bringing seven years of experience as a Urology nurse to her role. She received her nursing education from Bryan College of Health Sciences and continued her studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she obtained her Nurse Practitioner degree and gained a solid foundation in urology.
